I’m pleased to begin a new series of images, which will differ somewhat from my other ongoing series. Some time ago, I realized that the vast majority of projects I undertake are extremely longterm affairs. My ongoing work in the Woven Portraits and Winter Solstice Pinhole series requires extensive planning and months and sometimes years of tedious work related to both logistics and physical execution before results come. And when those results do come, they are expected. Often these bodies of work speak from a basically third-person position. While I enjoy this work and it satisfies me immensely, I have started craving a more immediate, open-ended, first-person outlet.
Notes on the Visible will be an open-ended series; a first-person narrative without a path or destination mapped out. I will make photographs—and probably some drawings as well—informally, without a specific goal in mind, but only to note, from my own perspective. Notes on what is seen and unseen, and perhaps notes in the musical sense or the sense of tasting a flavor. I will try to produce images at least a few times per week.
For now, I will be posting the images here on this website and on a dedicated Instagram feed. Maybe at some point it will move to its own website. So, follow along. I’ll tell you a story.
